Birthday Card with Tilda Sitting on a Pocket.

Hi guys',

What a beautie of a day, I do hope it lasts. I'm starting my motor home search next week and would love for the weather to hold. It's my retirement present to myself :)
Today's card has been done in between reading a really good book in the garden and crafting.  I've finished the book now, so no more distractions

I've used one of my new Tilda images. I treated myself to a couple or three the other day and I've been colouring for the past couple of evenings, got loads now, ready for cards.  This one is Tilda sitting. Hasn't she grown up quickly, doesn't seem two minutes since she was a baby. I made this card with a couple of challenges in mind, both asked for a pocket, so here it is, with Tilda sitting on it. Isn't she cute, with her cherry wellies? The challenges are listed at the end of the post.

The pocket is made from a piece of purple Papermania card and then embellished with some lace, faux glitter stitching and a button with twine. Tilda is coloured with promarkers and mounted on foam. The button background paper is from Clipartfairy and the spotty background is again, Papermania, from their rich purple collection. The border pattern is the wild flowers around the page punch from Martha Stewart.

All the flowers are hand made using MCS, they're just not going down!( see here,)and the floral flourishes are spellbinder dies. I used holographic silver and purple for these.

To finish I added cream ribbon from my stash, a Hunkidory sentiment and some card candy.

Hope you like it and thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.

Thank You Cards for a Boy and a Girl.

Hi Guys',

Seems ages since I last posted, but firstly I'd like to give a great big welcome to my new followers.

I've been a bit busy celebrating my BIG birthday this week and what a fantastic week it's been. The celebrations started wednesday and finished on Saturday, with a show in London, courtesy of my lovely Son  and Daughter. I was thoroughly spoiled and so todays cards are to say 'Thank you' to them for such a fabulous treat. 'Phantom' was awesome.

The first one is a nice girly one for my daughter Tracy, because she is girly. I used a lilac theme throughout, for this card.

The backing papers are all from the Docrafts 'Especially For You' CD, all coloured in the lilac theme, using the colour changer. I used lots of different shapes for this card and added faux stitching around the top two layers. The digi topper is a pink gem design from the Jodie and Josh range, coloured with promarkers. I'm loving these designs, they're so cute.

I haven't added a sentiment to this card, because the Dovecraft ribbon actually has 'Thank you' printed on it. I layered the ribbon over some lilac rafia lace from my stash. To finish I cut swirls and a flower, in the same backing papers, using the spellbinder floral flourishes and daisy topper dies. Next, a lilac button and twine to the centre of the flower to finish. All the shapes were distressed with Tim Holtz milled lavender, to add detail and definition.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges :-

Fab 'N' Funky Challenges - Using fabric.
Panpastels UK Challenge - Pastel colours.
I Love Promarkers - Anything goes.
Allsorts Challenge Blog - Buttons and bows.
Oo La La Creations - Ribbon and twine.
Bunny Zoe's Challenge Blog - Anything goes.

My second card would appear to be a lot more simple, but is infact quite complex. I had a nice play with this one.

The topper is a technique that Barbara Gray did on her last C&C show. I first cut a shape with spellbinder labels twenty-two and double sided adhesive sheet. I took off the white protective layer  and stamped directly onto the adhesive with  black Stazon ink. The stamp is Woodware, from the Egyptian Treasures collection.  Onto the adhesive (on the stamped side) was added a piece of acetate,  cut into the same shape as the adhesive sheet. I coloured the image from the back with gel pens and then added  'Lancashire Rose' gilding flakes to the whole thing. The next die was too large for a mat, so I made a faux mat in gold mirri, by drawing round the same die and cutting it out. The topper is mounted with foam to give dimension.

The backgroung was created using Panpastels, with a quick spray of cheap hairspray to set them. Have you succumbed yet? They really are great to use. The sentiment is a stamp from my stash, stamped again with black Stazon ink.  To finish I wound some bakers twine around the spine and added some card candy.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:-

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Clean and simple.

I hope they like them, and I hope they don't look at my blog tonight. They don't usually, but it's that law of sod, isn't it?

Thanks for visiting, hope you enjoyed my blog. Do leave a comment, then I'll know you popped by and then I can visit yours.

A Cute Fairy Birthdaygirl Card.

Good afternoon everyone,

What a beautiful day, I really shouldn't be sat in my craft room, I should be taking advantage of the dry spell and doing some gardening. But hey, this is far more fun.

Today's card is using the sketch over on the 'A Gem of a Design' weekly challenge blog and the 'Faye with Dandelion' digistamp from 'Pink Gem Designs' . I only just found this web site whilst visiting various blogs and think the digi's are lovely. There is something for every occasion. They're also doing a DT call, so if anyone is interested, pop on over. I'll be putting my name down, gonna have loads of time on my hands after Thursday,  (Ahhhh, the big one) so I'll need something to keep me out of trouble. :)

I've not followed a sketch before, I didn't know if it would be a bit limiting. I needn't have worried, I really enjoyed doing this one and it does still leave some space for artistic licence. I think it was more difficult trying to keep within the sketch.

I coloured the digi with promarkers and added a bit of glitter to the wings.  The patterned circles are  'Me to You'  and the plain background paper from my stash. The flowers, well we all know about them by now, if not see here. I used the spellbinders floral flourishes in the same colours and added a bit of detail with some faux stitching. The sentiment was a freebie in a magazine and I just tied some silver ribbon through the hole.  Cute, isn't she?

I am entering this card into the following challenges :-

My Mum's Craft Shop (2nd entry) - Fairy tales.
LEJ Designs - Things with wings.
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Cute, cute, cute.
Glitter Geeks Blog Challenge -  Wings and things

Thankyou for stopping by my blog, hope you enjoyed it. I love comments, because they let me know you've been and then I can visit your blog.

Have a nice afternoon, I might have a go at doing some gardening, then again........
